The linear actuators of the NIASA F/A series are electromechanical cylinders in which a round rod moves inside a second tube made of steel or aluminum.

The longitudinal movement of the rod is produced by a screw-and-nut combination that drives the rod, powered by an electric motor. Power transmission from the motor can be achieved either directly or through various gear and chain solutions.
